Host Site: Camp Fire Heart of Iowa
Service Term: May 16, 2026 – August 31, 2026
Schedule: ~33 hours/week (primarily weekdays)
Stipend: $4,725 $1,956 Education Award

The Iowa AmeriCorps 4-H Youth Development Program is hiring multiple Summer Instructors to serve with Camp Fire Heart of Iowa. This is a hands-on opportunity to work directly with youth while developing professional skills in education, leadership, and nonprofit service.
Housing may be available for select candidates.
What You’ll Do
- Lead fun, engaging activities for youth in grades K–8
- Teach lessons in STEM, outdoor education, life skills, literacy, and creative arts
- Serve as a mentor and positive role model
- Create a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment
- Help plan and prepare daily programming
- Support program operations and youth engagement
- Track participation and assist with program evaluation
You’ll work with approximately 200 youth throughout the summer.

✅ Minimum Qualifications
- At least 17 years old
- High school diploma/GED (or working toward completion)
- U.S. citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident
- Ability to pass a background check
⭐ Preferred Qualifications
- Interest in education, youth development, recreation, or social work
- Experience working with youth (preferred, not required)
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Reliable and able to work independently and as part of a team
Schedule Details
- Monday–Friday, typically between 7:30 AM – 5:30 PM
- Occasional evenings or weekends may be required
- No more than 6 consecutive service days

AmeriCorps is a national service program that helps individuals gain professional experience while serving communities.
The Iowa AmeriCorps 4-H program partners with Iowa State University Extension and Outreach, Volunteer Iowa, and youth-serving organizations to expand access to high-quality youth programming across the state.
Pay: $10.50 per hour
