What are the responsibilities and job description for the DAS Install Field Tech - Construction Engineer position at AmeriCloud Telecom Solutions?
Job Description:
Read and interpret design drawings, blueprints, and installation guides. Installing, testing, and troubleshooting DAS wireless equipment including but not limited to the installation of Outdoor and Indoor antennas, Remotes, DAS equipment, coaxial, copper, fiber other appropriate components to NEC standards.
Requirements:
- Familiar with Telecom / Wifi industry construction standards
- Able to pull/install cable and routing through various pathways such as basket-style tray and ladder-style cable tray systems, conduits from ¾” to 4”, J-Hooks, trapezes, etc.
- Able to install radio equipment’s on different types of ceilings or walls identifying materials required.
- Familiar with various cabinets and racks, wire management, and grounding standards
- Installation of Radio equipment such as base stations, radios, filters, combiners, and splitters
- Prefabricated Components and Assemblies such as antennas and jumpers
- Need to be able to train and supervise apprentices in a team environment to facilitate installing cable from the RF headend to the antenna location while following drawings and run lists to ensure cables are installed methodically and adequately supported throughout the pathway.
- Need to be able to perform Quality assurance checks of their team’s work.
- Communicating and coordinating with customers and companies related to specific safety, local code, and company installation requirements.
- Must have understanding and experience performing fusion splicing, fiber terminations, fiber dressing, fiber cleaning, and OTDR Testing
- Must have understanding and experience performing RF Sweep and PIM Measurements
- Knowledge of the terminology used in the in-building DAS industry.
- Demonstrated ability to use basic hand and power tools.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a safe and professional manner at all job sites.
- Be able to work on lifts and ladders.
- A willingness to learn multiple vendor solutions and field-testing equipment. Obtain company-paid certifications when required.
- A willingness to travel up to 75% of the time to client sites across the United States
- Assist with the development of project schedules and materials/subcontractor selections.
- Accurately report status, material usage, and expenses.
- Mentoring and leading less experienced technicians
- Updates customer prints, and documentation, and facilitates document storage.
- Assisting in warehouse maintenance and inventory
- Solid skills with Microsoft Office Software (particularly Excel)
- Experience on DC Power Plants, UPS
Preferred Qualifications and abilities:
- Driver's License (Required)
- High school or equivalent (Preferred)
- In-building DAS: 3 years (Preferred)
- Certification in multiple Distributed Antennae Systems (DAS) Solutions including CommScope, Corning, Solid, JMA, Nokia, Samsung, and Ericsson. (Preferred)
- Must be able to Lift at least 60 pounds for an extended period.
- Must have an excellent safety record, a valid driver's license, and a clean driving record to meet corporate eligibility requirements to drive a company-owned vehicle.
- Successfully pass a background check and drug test
