Regional EHS Coordinator

Americhem is a globally recognized designer and manufacturer of custom color masterbatch, functional additives, engineered compounds and performance technologies. Our business is built around delivering Performance, Solutions and Trust through close collaboration with customers seeking to optimize their polymer products. All of our products are backed by complete technical support that ensures quality, reliability, and value.

We are seeking a dynamic Regional Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Coordinator who is committed to world-class performance in safety, environmental stewardship, and employee well-being. We are seeking a proactive and results-driven professional to provide leadership and oversight across our Michigan and Ohio facilities. The role may be based at either site or a location between them and requires consistent on-site engagement at both facilities.

This position is well-suited for an EHS professional who thrives in building and sustaining effective safety systems, strengthening safety culture and driving continuous improvement beyond regulatory compliance. Experience with, or exposure to OSHA’s Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) principles is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Provide EHS leadership and technical guidance to site leadership and employees, reinforcing expectations, accountability, and continuous improvement in safety performance
  • Develop, implement, and sustain integrated EHS management systems that support operational excellence and long-term risk reduction
  • Act as a key driver of safety culture maturity, influencing behaviors at all organizational levels through engagement, coaching, and visible field presence
  • Ensure compliance with applicable OSHA, EPA, state, and local regulations, as well as Americhem policies and standards
  • Plan and conduct routine and formal EHS inspections, audits, and risk assessments to proactively identify, prioritize, and control hazards
  • Lead incident, near-miss, and hazard investigations using structured root cause analysis methods; ensure corrective actions are timely, effective, and sustainable
  • Maintain accurate and well-controlled EHS documentation, including OSHA logs, written programs, training records, and corrective action tracking
  • Design and deliver practical, engaging EHS training and awareness programs aligned with operational needs
  • Support and mentor site safety committees, encourage employee involvement and share ownership of safety outcomes
  • Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, HR, and leadership to integrate EHS considerations into daily activities, capital projects, and management-of-change processes
  • Track and analyze EHS performance metrics and trends, using data to identify gaps, and drive preventive and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Support regulatory inspections, audits, and OSHA VPP readiness efforts, including gap assessments and corrective action planning

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Safety Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, or a related discipline required
  • 3 years of progressive EHS experience, preferably in manufacturing or industrial environments
  • Demonstrated experience implementing, supporting, maintaining, or improving EHS management systems
  • Working knowledge of OSHA regulations; OSHA VPP experience or familiarity strongly preferred

Travel: Up to 50%

Desired Qualities/Attributes

  • Strong understanding of risk-based EHS management systems and hazard control methodologies
  • Proven ability to influence, engage, and develop a strong, sustainable safety culture
  • Leadership mindset with demonstrated coaching and mentoring capabilities
  • High attention to detail, particularly in documentation, audits, and regulatory recordkeeping
