Position Overview
Americana Community Center is seeking a strategic and relationship-driven Development Director to lead our fundraising and development initiatives. In an evolving non-profit landscape where community support is more critical than ever, this role is vital to sustaining and expanding our impactful programs. The Development Director will oversee individual giving, corporate sponsorships, grant writing, and major fundraising events, ensuring the long-term financial sustainability of the organization. You will work closely with the Executive Director and the Board of Directors to champion our mission and secure the resources needed to help our diverse community thrive.
Key Responsibilities
- Fundraising Strategy: Develop, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive annual development plan covering individual giving, major gifts, corporate partnerships, and special events.
- Grant Management: Identify prospective funding opportunities, write compelling grant proposals, and manage all grant reporting for foundation, corporate, and government sources.
- Donor Relations: Cultivate, maintain, and strengthen relationships with current and prospective donors. Design and execute effective donor stewardship and appreciation strategies.
- Campaign Leadership: Spearhead targeted community fundraising campaigns (such as Give for Good Louisville and critical community-appeal campaigns) to drive engagement and meet annual revenue goals.
- Community Engagement: Serve as a passionate ambassador for Americana in the Greater Louisville community, representing the organization at networking events, presentations, and partnership meetings.
- Data & Reporting: Manage and maintain accurate records within the donor database. Track development metrics, evaluate campaign ROI, and provide regular, transparent reports to the Executive Director and Board.
- Collaborative Leadership: Work closely with programmatic staff to deeply understand the center's funding needs and seamlessly align development strategies with our community-based initiatives.
Qualifications
- Proven track record in non-profit development, fundraising, grant writing, or a closely related field.
- Deep commitment to the mission of Americana Community Center and a genuine passion for supporting immigrant, refugee, and underserved communities.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling narratives that inspire community support and investment.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, capable of handling multiple deadlines and high-priority campaigns simultaneously.
- Demonstrated experience using donor management software or CRM databases to track giving and engagement.
- High level of cultural competency, empathy, and experience working effectively alongside diverse, multicultural populations.
- A bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred, but equivalent professional experience is highly valued.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $55,000 - $60,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
