Hostel Event Associate | Friday Evenings

Join Our Team as a Food and Beverage Associate at our HI Chicago Hostel!

We are currently hiring a Food and Beverage Associate to support our weekly Welcome Parties and special events by setting up and breaking down the bar, serving drinks, and helping create a clean, safe, and welcoming environment.  

Position Details:  

Pay: $18.00 per hour 
Type: Part Time

Shift: Every Friday from 4:15pm-7:00pm

Responsibilities:  

- Fully set up bar area including moving bar cart, stocking beverages, filling ice, and setting up cups and supplies 

- Ensure all necessary signage (permits, licenses, etc.) is displayed throughout the event 

- Greet guests warmly and check ID to confirm age requirements, using wristbands or hand stamps as needed 

- Serve beverages responsibly in accordance with laws and organizational policies 

- Maintain a clean, organized work area during events and follow health and safety standards 

- Break down bar area post-event, including storing inventory, cleaning up, and resetting event space 

- Maintain accurate inventory records and report shortages to the Volunteer & Engagement Coordinator 

- Assist with set up and break down of Welcome Parties and other hostel events as needed 

- Report any maintenance, security, or safety concerns to hostel management promptly 

- Perform other duties as assigned by hostel management 

Skills/Qualifications:  

-Must be 21 years of age or older  

- TIPS Certification or ability to obtain certification promptly 

- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills 

- Collaborative team player  

- Previous bartending, banquet or serving experience preferred 

- Demonstrated reliability, attendance, teamwork, and communication skills 

Physical Requirements:  

- Requires frequent physical activity including lifting and moving heavy objects.  

- Requires standing for extended periods of time
