What are the responsibilities and job description for the Shop Foreman position at American Woodworks Co?
We build custom cabinetry in Houston. We need someone to run the shop floor: operate the machines, keep the crew on task, and make sure bad parts don't leave your station.
What you'll do
- Run the CNC router, drilling, and edge banding from programmed instructions
- Assign the crew's work each day from the job queue and keep jobs moving
- Able to speak, read, and write English. You will report to the owner and read work orders and cut lists in English.
- Check parts against the spec and tolerances before they go to the next step. If a part's wrong, it stops with you.
- Handle routine machine maintenance and get machines running again when they go down
- Keep the shop safe and clean
- Tell the owner directly when material, tooling, or the schedule is going to be a problem, before it costs us a day
You'll report to the owner. The production staff report to you.
What you need
- 3 years running CNC or production woodworking machines in a shop
- Experience running a crew, not only working on one
- Able to read work orders and cut lists, and check parts against them
- Bonus: experience with 32mm/frameless cabinet construction, sheet goods (plywood, MDF), Haas CNC routers, or SCM edge banders
Expected hours: 40.0 per week
Benefits:
- Paid time off
Work Location: In person
