The Technician, Water Quality and Environmental Compliance is responsible for the collection of samples across assigned water and/or wastewater systems within State Operations. This role will be required to collect samples from within treatment plant settings as well as in the distribution system of water systems. This position will be required to perform basic laboratory analyses and respond to water quality inquiries and complaints

Primary Role
The Technician, Water Quality and Environmental Compliance is responsible for the collection of samples across assigned water and/or wastewater systems within State Operations. This role will be required to collect samples from within treatment plant settings as well as in the distribution system of water systems. This position will be required to perform basic laboratory analyses and respond to water quality inquiries and complaints
Key Accountabilities
- Collect and analyze plant, field and regulatory samples following approved methodology.
- Analyze results, record data and identify process control/regulatory problems.
- Prepare reagents/standards, maintain log sheets, clean glassware and maintain laboratory in clean and orderly condition.
- Maintain QA/QC on lab equipment and adjust continuous process control monitors.
- Knowledge of water or other utility operations preferred.
- Knowledge of specific systems such as SAP preferred.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft office suite applications including MSWord, Excel, Access and PowerPoint and email management systems (MS Outlook).
- Demonstrated organizational and administrative skills
- Good business acumen and judgment.
- Good quantitative and analytical skills; attention to detail.
- Good verbal and written communication skills (e.g., report writing, listening, plan reading and creating, and presentation).
- Strong interpersonal skills (e.g., tact/diplomacy, persuasion, team building, cooperation, leadership, ability to motivate others.
- High School Diploma.
- Associate’s degree in science, business administration or management, or related degree preferred.
- 0 - 2 years’ experience in operations, administrative and/or customer service, preferred.
- Valid Driver's license required.
- Local and occasional regional travel, as needed.
- Standard indoor office environment within an operations facility / treatment plan.
