Job description:
The billing department is largely responsible for a company's profitability, as part of the team, you will be tasked with Billing claims for patient visits, medical injections and surgeries along with collecting payments and creating payments arrangements for patient accounts. You will also maintain an accurate accounting of patient account balances and generate and send out invoices to secure payment, while following up on past due accounts as well as verify accuracy of billing data and revise any errors. Collections experience is a must . You must know how to do Insurance collections while managing your billings tasks on a daily basis . Billing and Medical Collections projects on a monthly basis .
Key Responsibilities:
- Billing out all surgeries and patient visits
- Knowledge of all billing rules and current fee schedules
- Being able to meet billing requirements on a monthly basis
- Review all coding on all claims before leaving the clearing house
- Process claims appeals on a timely basis
- Medical claims collections
- Patient Collections
- Monthly reporting
- Managing projects
- Process re-invoicing of CMS 1500 and paper claims within each payer timely filing guidelines
- Respond to detailed questions from patients and payers regarding claims or account status
- Maintain payer and other support files.
- Compile claims data and update logs, tracking and trending reports and communicate denial trends with urgency
- Maintain current knowledge of all third-party and CMS reimbursement requirements.
- Keep team informed regarding changes for all third- party and CMS billing in a timely manner.
- Participate in all billing and collection related meetings to discuss new and on-going account resolution
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor and manager
- Minimum Requirements:
- Typically requires 3 years of relevant experience.
- Knowledge of Surgical billing and NDC's for Injections
- High School Diploma
Skills:
- Experience using medical billing software.
- Experience working with multi-state Medicaid policies.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
- Additional Knowledge and Skills*
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Self-directed with ability to work with minimal supervision
