Learn more about American University Department: Men's Basketball Time Type: Part time Job Type: Regular FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Work Modality: Union: Excluded Job Description: Summary: Under the direct supervision of the Head Men’s Basketball Coach, this position is responsible for assisting with the scouting and statistical analysis of the University’s varsity men’s basketball program. The Men's Basketball Assistant will primarily provide assistance to coaching staff during practices and games. This position requires frequent interaction with the head coach and assistant coaches to help promote a successful and positive athletic experience for all men’s basketball student-athletes. This position works under general supervision of the head coach. Essential Functions: Responsible for analyzing the performance of basketball student-athletes and opponents. Assist with the implementation of the practice plans approved and/or established by the head coach. Works with coaches to determine progress and making strategic recommendations as needed. Attends practices and games. Assists coaching staff with administrative tasks, as assigned by the head coach. This includes but is not limited to video upload and gameday operations. Assists in the recruiting efforts designed to attract academically qualified and athletically gifted student-athletes to program. Evaluates prospective student-athletes through analysis of film. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: Part-Time. 3 - 4 hours per week. Salary Range: $26 - $29 per hour. Required Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree. 1 - 3 years of relevant experience. Preferred Education and Experience: Approximately 1 - 2 years coaching experience or experience playing basketball at the collegiate or professional level preferred. Travel Required: Some travel may be required.
