Description
American Traveler is seeking a CVOR Surgical Tech for a hospital-based surgical services position requiring at least 1 year of experience and cardiovascular surgical proficiency.
Details
- Hospital CVOR unit with a broad surgical scope including cardiovascular/thoracic, general, OB/GYN, plastics, ENT, ophthalmology, urology, neuro/spine, orthopedics, robotics, and endoscopic procedures
- Endoscopic cases include bronchoscopes, colonoscopes, EGD, EBUS, EUS, enteroscopes, ERCP, fiber optics, and flex sigmoidoscopes
- Day shift, 4x10-hour shifts, 6:45 AM – 5:15 PM
- Every other weekend required
- Call requirement of approximately 10–12 shifts per 6-week schedule
- Floating within scope of practice to another facility location as needed
- Epic EMR; experience required
- Teaching hospital and Trauma experience preferred
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of surgical tech experience
- BLS required; ACLS preferred
- NBSTSA or NCCT certification required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Proficiency in cardiovascular surgical cases including CABG, valve replacements, TAVR, EVAR, TEVAR, and aortic aneurysm repair
- Experience with robotic surgery, including the Da Vinci Xi Surgical System
- Strong aseptic technique, universal protocol, and sterile processing skills
- GA or Compact license required if applicable
- Copies of all certifications listed in the position description required for consideration
- Two supervisory references (manager level or above; charge nurses not accepted) highly preferred for consideration
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates are accepted
- All RTO must be finalized prior to or at the time of offer; no RTO or schedule changes can be requested after offer or upon arrival onsite
- Maximum of 7 days RTO per contract; RTO cannot be requested during the first week of the assignment
- Travelers are expected to work all major holidays that fall within their assignment period, up to two; if three major holidays fall within the assignment period, one holiday RTO request may be considered
- Major holidays include: Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve/New Year's Day
- Former permanent, per diem, or FCSS staff must have been away from all system facilities for a full year before applying as a traveler
- Travelers who were canceled or placed on a DNR must complete one assignment outside of the health system before reapplying
- No special scheduling requests, alternate shifts, or schedule modifications are permitted; the listed shift is firm
- Full compliance with onboarding requirements must be completed on time; delays may result in a two-week start date pushback due to a bi-weekly orientation schedule
