Description
American Traveler is seeking a Speech-Language Pathologist for an Inpatient Rehab position requiring bedside swallow evaluation experience and a Minnesota state license.
Details
- Acute care hospital setting split between inpatient rehab and acute care nursing units
- Patient population includes adults with CVA, dysphagia, TBI, degenerative diseases, and nervous system disorders
- Focus on dysphagia and swallowing management, particularly bedside swallow evaluations
- May involve conducting or interpreting Modified Barium Swallow Studies and Video Fluoroscopy Swallow Evaluations
- Works with trach/vent dependent patients
- Uses Epic for charting
- Day shift schedule, 5x8-hour shifts from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
- Weekend rotation required every 5th weekend, including both Saturday and Sunday
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of experience required
- Active Minnesota state SLP license required (license required if applicable), pending licenses not accepted
- BLS certification required
- CCC-SLP certification required
- Bedside swallow evaluation and treatment experience required
- Acute care experience highly preferred
- Video fluoroscopy swallow evaluation experience preferred
- Experience with adaptive equipment and alternative/augmentative communication devices preferred
Additional Information
- Conduct assessments, evaluations, and discharge planning for patients with speech, swallowing, and communication disorders
- Perform bedside swallow evaluations to determine need for further swallow studies
- Provide dysphagia management including diet modification and use of thickening agents
- Deliver patient and family education on communication and swallowing disorders
- Work in a Magnet-designated, teaching hospital with Level II Trauma status
- Holiday coverage required as needed by facility
- First-time travelers will be considered for this role
- Candidates must not reside within 25 miles of the facility
- Maximum of 10 days RTO per assignment, with none permitted during the first week of the assignment
- Finalized RTO must be submitted with initial application
