Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring a minimum of 2 years of experience, strong cardiac monitoring skills, and an Alabama or compact RN license.
Details
- Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
- Progressive Care Unit (PCU) in a hospital setting
- Float to Med/Surg units required
- Every other weekend (EOW) required
- Patient ratio of 1:5
- Skills utilized include cardiac drip management (no titration), IV therapy, heparin protocols, central and peripheral line care, blood product administration, and non-invasive airway management
- Cardiac monitoring responsibilities include interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Use of Rapid Response and Code teams expected
Requirements
- Active AL RN license or compact RN license (pending license accepted)
- Certifications required: BLS, ACLS
- Certification preferred: NIHSS
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Required work setting experience: Med/Surg Telemetry, Telemetry, and PCU/Stepdown
- Strong cardiac monitoring and emergency response skills required
- Ability to start IVs and manage heparin protocols required
- 2 professional supervisory references from within the past 2 years required for consideration
- Prior permanent employees of the facility are not eligible
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- RTO is limited to a maximum of 7 days for the duration of the assignment
- Candidates residing within 60 miles of the facility are considered local and may be eligible at a different rate
- Hospital housing is available on-site — shared units with private bedrooms and shared common spaces; male and female units available separately; no dogs allowed; travelers coordinate directly with the facility
- The facility is located in a remote area; on-site housing is recommended
- Flight reimbursement is available at economy level; travelers must provide detailed flight and luggage receipts and submit flight itinerary at least one week before the start date
