Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring post-operative open heart care experience and cardiac monitoring proficiency.
Details
- Progressive Care Unit (PCU) in a hospital setting
- Day shift, 12-hour shifts
- 36 hours per week
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call responsibilities
- Floating to all units within skill level is required
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active OH or Compact RN license, verified active via Nursys
- Current AHA BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Post-operative open heart care experience required
- Chest tube and other drain management experience required
- Experience with pre- and post-procedure care for patients with radial and femoral access required
- Proficiency in cardiac monitoring, including reading and interpreting rhythm strips and recognizing and responding to cardiac rhythm changes required
- Advanced knowledge of cardiac and pulmonary abnormalities required
- Experience assisting with chest tube removal, removal of pericardial pacing wires, and management of temporary pacers (including pericardial and transcutaneous devices) required
- Experience with non-invasive ventilation (NIV) devices, high-flow oxygen, and other oxygen delivery systems required
- Critical care experience highly preferred
- Current skills checklist (within the past year), pertinent to PCU specialty, required for consideration
Additional Information
- Responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care using age-specific criteria
- Assists in directing and teaching non-RN staff such as LPNs, PCTs, and Unit Secretaries
- RTO requests are limited to no more than 5 days for the duration of the contract
- Candidates seeking more than 50% of holidays off may experience a longer review timeline
