Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced OR RN with strong gynecological surgical skills and mandatory call availability for a 13-week travel contract at an acute care hospital in Colorado.
Details
- Work setting is an acute care hospital operating room environment
- OR includes 4 main suites, a Family Birth Center (C-sections), and an Endoscopy Room
- Common case types include gynecological, general surgery, orthopedic (joint replacement, fracture and soft tissue repair), urological, ENT, and podiatry
- Strong gynecological surgical skills required, including Total Laparoscopic Hysterectomy (TLH)
- RN scrubbing is required
- Charting is performed using MEDITECH ORM
- Schedule is Monday through Friday, 7-hour day shifts (6:30 AM – 3:00 PM)
- Weeknight call requirement: 3:00 PM – 6:30 AM
- Weekend call coverage: Friday 3:00 PM through Monday 6:30 AM
- Holiday call coverage is required
- Mandatory call/standby is required with a 20-minute response time
- Floating to other departments as a "helping hand" may be required
Requirements
- Active RN license (state or compact/NLC) required — Oregon license is NOT required at time of consideration; a 90-Day Emergency License may be requested upon offer
- Candidates must reside at least 60 miles from the facility to qualify for travel pay rates
- Current AHA certifications required: BLS and ACLS — pending certifications not accepted
- OR RN license/certification required
- Minimum 2 years of OR RN experience required
- Strong gynecological OR skills required, including experience with TLH
- Copy of driver's license required for consideration
- 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
Additional Information
- Unit-specific orientation is provided (12 hours)
- Blue scrubs are required and will be provided by the facility
- Candidates who have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity Health facility within the past year are not eligible — candidates employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
- Travelers are expected to float within their assigned zone and are responsible for securing housing that allows them to meet call response requirements
- No OR techs on staff — RNs are expected to scrub cases independently
