Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced travel RN for an Operating Room position at an acute care facility in Wisconsin, requiring a minimum of 3 years of OR experience and prior travel nursing experience.
Details
- Acute care hospital setting with a Trauma Level 4 designation
- Operating Room department with 6 OR suites and 2 GI suites, averaging 12 cases per day
- Common case types include Total Joints, ORIFs, Tendon Repairs, Hernia, Cholecystectomy, Appendectomy, Robotic Bowel Resection, Endoscopic Sinus Surgery, Tonsils and Adenoids (peds), and eye procedures (Cataracts, Blepharoplasty)
- General Surgery, Ortho (total joints), Robotics, and GI experience preferred
- OR Techs and CRNAs are part of the on-call team
- Primary schedule is Monday–Thursday, 6:30 AM–5:00 PM (10-hour shifts)
- Weeknight call required once per week from end of cases until 6:30 AM the following day
- Weekend call required every 3rd to 4th weekend, Friday 6:30 PM through Monday 6:30 AM
- 30-minute call response time required
- One holiday worked per assignment; travelers are expected to work the majority of winter holidays (2 of 3)
- Occasional opportunity to float to the ED, Med/Surg, or LTC based on comfort level
- EMR: Cerner (facility is transitioning to Epic)
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active WI RN license or compact RN license (must be active by start date)
- Current certifications required: ACLS (AHA) and BLS (AHA)
- Minimum 3 years of OR nursing experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Experience in General Surgery, Orthopedics (total joints), and Robotics strongly preferred
- 2 professional references required for consideration: 1 supervisor reference from within the last 12 months of relevant experience, and 1 peer or supervisor reference from within the last 3 years of relevant experience
- Former permanent staff at this health system must have an end date at least 6 months prior to their consideration date, and hospital approval is required
Additional Information
- Scrubbing is preferred but not required
- Orientation consists of up to 4 shifts, including cataract procedure orientation (facility is willing to train on eye cases)
- Duo (couples) travel assignments are considered for candidates with prior travel experience
- Gray scrubs are required and provided by the facility
- Candidates residing within 80 miles of the facility are considered local and may be subject to a reduced pay rate
