Description
American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN with 2 years of experience and a strong respiratory skill set for a 24-bed unit emphasizing respiratory care.
Details
- 24-bed Medical Surgical unit with an emphasis on respiratory care
- MS/Tele and Telemetry work setting
- Patient ratio of 1:5
- 3x12 hour day shifts, 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM, 36 hours per week
- Epic charting system used
- Floating to like units within scope required as needed, with brief orientation provided
Requirements
- Active OK or Compact RN license required at time of consideration
- BLS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of Medical Surgical nursing experience required
- Epic charting experience required, teaching hospital experience preferred
- Experience with IV therapy/phlebotomy, central/peripheral/PICC line care, and blood product administration
- Respiratory skills including BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tube care, HFNC, ABG interpretation, and tracheostomy care
- Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and rapid response/code team involvement
- Wound care/wound vac and IV insulin protocol experience
- Feeding tube care, PCA, and Heparin protocol experience
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care to a medically complex population with a focus on respiratory conditions
- First time travelers accepted for this unit
- Must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be considered for the travel position
- Former permanent staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
- No more than 3 days of RTO will be auto-approved, and no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation
