Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg position at a critical access hospital in rural Vermont, requiring at least 3 years of acute care experience and a VT or compact RN license.

Details

• Day shift, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM, three 12-hour shifts per week (36 hours/week)
• Every other weekend required
• General Med/Surg unit at a 25-bed critical access hospital in rural Vermont
• Primarily adult patient population with occasional pediatric patients; this is not a dedicated pediatric floor
• Scope of care includes medical, surgical, outpatient, observation, swing bed, and occasional pediatric cases
• Meditech EMR experience is preferred
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active VT RN license or multi-state compact RN license currently in hand
• Current BLS (AHA) and ACLS certifications required prior to start
• Minimum 3 years of acute care experience required
• Adult Med/Surg experience required; candidates with pediatric-only backgrounds will not be considered

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult and occasionally pediatric patients using the Nursing Process to guide clinical decision-making
• Accountable to the Unit Director, with shift collaboration alongside the Clinical Nurse Lead and/or Nursing Supervisor
• Care approach emphasizes holistic patient needs including physiological, spiritual, psychosocial, and developmental considerations
• Travelers begin their assignment on Wednesdays
• Reliable personal transportation is essential — public transportation and rideshare services are not available in this rural area
• Housing is the candidate's responsibility; a local housing resource list is available upon request
• All required credentials must be uploaded at least five business days prior to start date
