Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Stepdown/Med-Surg Tele position requiring at least 3 years of experience and stepdown-specific skills, including drip titration and telemetry monitoring.
Details
- Acute care hospital setting in a 20-bed Stepdown/Med-Surg unit
- Common patient diagnoses include respiratory issues, weakness, UTI, AKI, and chest pain
- Patient ratios are 1:3 for stepdown and 1:5-6 for floor assignments
- Nurses are required to titrate drips, including heparin, insulin, Cardizem, and amiodarone
- Telemetry is present on the unit and monitored remotely at Ruby
- RT equipment in use includes CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen therapy
- Two nurse aides are available per shift
- Charting is done in Epic
- 12-hour day shifts, 0700–1930
- Weekend schedule consists of Friday/Saturday/Sunday or Saturday/Sunday/Monday, with 3 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule
- Holiday rotation required (days or evenings)
- No on-call or standby requirement
- No floating requirement
- 13-week assignment
Requirements
- Active WV or Compact RN license required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA) required
- Minimum 3 years of RN experience required
- Prior stepdown experience required
- Epic EMR experience preferred
- Valid, unexpired driver's license required for consideration
Additional Information
- Royal blue scrubs required
- Unit-specific orientation is provided
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
- Travelers who have previously worked at any WVU Medicine location must have taken a 2-year break before reapplying
- Travelers may not work within the WVU system for longer than one cumulative year before taking a 2-year break
- Two supervisor and peer references are required for consideration, including one supervisor reference from any permanent facility worked within the last 12 months
