Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced travel RN for a Labor & Delivery (LDRP) position requiring at least 2 years of L&D experience, traveler experience, and night shift availability.
Details
- LDRP unit in a hospital setting providing combined labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum care
- Patient population includes LDRP and Mother/Baby (couplet care)
- Patient ratio of 1:4
- Night shift schedule: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM (3x12-hour shifts)
- Every other weekend required
- On-call required: 2 mandatory call shifts per 6-week schedule
- Floating to assist other units (not take full assignments) is required
- EMR: Epic (preferred); Pyxis used for medication management; SBAR for communication
- Self-scheduling unit
Requirements
- Active NC or compact RN license
- Current certifications required: BLS, AWHONN, and NRP
- Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Proficiency in LDRP and Mother/Baby nursing care
- Skills required: external fetal monitoring (EFM), internal fetal monitoring, recognition and treatment of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns, sterile speculum exam assistance (effacement, dilation, station, presentation), and breastfeeding/lactation support
- Two professional references from a manager or supervisor within the past 2 years required prior to start (pending at time of consideration is acceptable)
- Epic EMR experience preferred
Additional Information
- Orientation is 32 hours, conducted weekly
- 8–10 hours of online modules must be completed prior to start and annually
- Cecil blue hospital-issued scrubs required; navy scrubs are also acceptable
- Candidate must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
- Up to 7 days of RTO may be auto-approved as long as it does not fall on a holiday; additional RTO requires facility approval
- No RTO permitted during the first week of the assignment due to orientation
- Previous permanent, PRN, or EP employees of Novant Health or New Hanover must wait 12 months before applying as a traveler; facility rehire approval is required
- Local candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are accepted
- Travel pairs are welcome; each traveler must have their own transportation and be comfortable with potentially different schedules
