Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Acute Dialysis position at a Level II Trauma hospital, requiring a minimum of 1 year of dialysis experience and current ACLS and BLS certifications.
Details
- Acute care inpatient dialysis unit at a 200-bed Level II Trauma hospital with Comprehensive Stroke and Chest Pain accreditation
- Provides hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis (PD) to inpatients, both in the dialysis department and at the bedside in other units
- Dialysis RNs support and troubleshoot machines alongside ICU nurses, who manage SLEDD in their unit
- Utilizes Tablo dialysis machines for hemodialysis and SLEDD, and Baxter Claria Homechoice for PD
- 13-week contract with a 3x12-hour day shift schedule (11:00–23:00), plus on-call responsibilities
- Epic EMR experience preferred
- Patient ratio of 1:2
Requirements
- Active Idaho RN license or valid Compact RN license currently in hand
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 1 year of dialysis RN experience required
- Proficiency in initiating and setting up dialysis treatments
- Ability to cannulate AV fistulas and AV grafts
- Experience with tunneled and non-tunneled catheters
- Skills in dialysate conductivity testing and system disinfectant absence verification
- Experience with hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis/CAPD patient care
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include administration of blood and blood products, symptom management, and management of dialysis complications such as hypotension, fluid overload, hyperkalemia, air emboli, hemolysis, disequilibrium syndrome, and pyrogenic reactions
- Machine alarm troubleshooting is required, including arterial/venous pressure, blood leak, conductivity, ultrafiltration, and power failure alarms
- Post-treatment duties include blood return, disconnection from AV fistula or dialysis catheter, post-treatment access care, and sterilization procedures
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
- Former permanent staff must have been separated for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
- No more than 3 days of RTO will be auto-approved, and no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation
- All RTO requests must be disclosed at time of consideration
- Orientation modules are completed onsite and average 4–6 hours for RNs
