Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Acute Dialysis position in Tuscaloosa, AL, requiring at least 1 year of recent dialysis experience and an active AL or compact RN license.
Details
- Hospital-based dialysis unit spanning two campuses: a Regional campus with eight dialysis bays and a Northport campus with four dialysis bays
- Performs hemodialysis, bedside dialysis, and peritoneal dialysis treatments
- Patient ratios of 1:2 (RN:patient) or 1:3 (RN CCHT:patient)
- Uses Fresenius machines primarily, with Gambro machines used as needed; training provided if unfamiliar with either
- EMR: Meditech (experience not required)
- Day shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
- Regional campus hours: Monday–Saturday 6:30 AM–7:00 PM; Northport campus hours: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday
- On-call required on Sundays and after hours at both campuses
- Every other weekend required
- Floating to other units and hospitals required
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active AL state or compact RN license required — no temporary or pending licenses accepted
- No hits (past or current) on license allowed
- Current BLS certification from AHA or Red Cross required
- NURSYS verification required
- Associate degree in nursing (ADN) minimum
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience, with at least 1 recent year in dialysis
- Must be able to read, write legibly, speak, and comprehend English
- Active state or compact license, current driver's license, and two professional references from within the last year required for consideration

- Nurses and Certified Dialysis Techs collaborate to prepare and perform dialysis treatments for patients across the organization
- Solid navy scrubs required
- Holiday coverage required as assigned
- Local candidates are accepted with no radius restrictions
- No HealthStream modules required prior to start; virtual orientation will include competency-based modules
- Professional nursing certification is preferred but not required
