Description
American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with ECMO Specialist experience for a night shift ICU position requiring both pediatric and adult critical care expertise.
Details
- Work in ICU settings including CVICU and PICU at a hospital with Trauma Level I and II designation
- Care for both pediatric and adult patients requiring ECMO support due to post cardiac surgery, cardiogenic shock, traumatic injury, ARDS/respiratory failure, or other critical acute illness
- Patient ratio of 1:2
- Manage ECMO device during bedside ECMO cannulation and/or cannula repositioning procedures
- Utilizes Cardiohelp ECMO console, Centrimag ECMO console, Cardio Quip heater-cooler unit, and point of care glucometer testing
- Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours, 1900-0730
- Weekend coverage required every other weekend, subject to change based on need
- Floating required between CVICU and PICU units
- Epic EMR used
Requirements
- Active RRT license required if applicable
- Current ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications required
- Minimum 3 years of experience required
- ECMO Specialist experience required, including completion of an ECMO specialty device course and required CMEs to maintain proficiency
- Minimum 1 year of experience with Epic EMR required
- Both pediatric and adult critical care experience required
- Trauma Level I and Trauma Level II experience required
- ICU experience required, with skills in care of patients on ECMO, ventilator management, ABG interpretation, and cardiac monitoring
- Skills in IV therapy and arterial line management required
Additional Information
- Work alongside ICU RN and RT teams, specifically responsible for ECMO device management following the ECMO order set and provider team direction
- Provide care to pediatric patients in PICU and adult patients in CVICU requiring extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (heart/lung) support related to cardiac/respiratory/sepsis/shock/trauma-related injury or illness
- Candidates will only float to units for which they are qualified and have demonstrated competencies
- First-time travelers will only be considered if they have previous ECMO Specialist experience
- Preferred experience includes previous charge experience, teaching hospital experience, community hospital experience, and LTAC experience
