American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist for a Level 4 NICU night shift position at a children's hospital, requiring RRT certification and prior NICU experience.

• Work in a Level 4 NICU and Pediatric Critical Care unit at a children's hospital
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00-7:00)
• Every other weekend and every other holiday rotation required, with 2 of 3 winter holidays required
• Unit uses a self-scheduling model, though preferred schedules are not guaranteed
• Floating within scope of practice may be required
• Epic experience required for float pool and inpatient units

• Minimum 1 year of NICU experience required, Level 4 NICU experience required
• PICU experience preferred, especially Cardiac PICU
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Required certifications: RRT, BLS, NRP
• PALS and ACCS certifications preferred
• VA state license required if applicable; pending license accepted if candidate holds another state license and can obtain VA temporary license before start
• BSN preferred
• Skilled in neonatal/pediatric respiratory equipment including CPAP/BiPAP, oscillating ventilator, high frequency jet ventilator, and intubation assistance
• Experience with medication delivery systems and administration including aerosol setups and nebulizers
• Experience caring for patients with ARDS, aspiration, bronchoscopy, cystic fibrosis, and pneumonia
• Proficiency in airway management including intubation/extubation assist and tracheostomy care
• Ability to interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs)
• Two professional references required for consideration

• Provide respiratory care to neonatal and pediatric patients in a high-acuity Level 4 NICU and Pediatric Critical Care setting
• Participate in high-risk deliveries and neonatal transports as needed
• Work as part of a specialty pediatric/neonatal respiratory care team
• Complete specialty-specific orientation modules during onboarding
• First-time travelers may be considered
• Previous UVA Health employees must have a 1-year separation and leadership approval before returning as travelers
• External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days
• No radius restriction applies to this position
• Maximum of 40 hours RTO allowed per 13-week contract, must be disclosed at time of consideration
• Any pre-start vacation time must be disclosed prior to determining start date
