Description
American Traveler is seeking a Physical Therapist with 2 years of experience for a 13-week travel contract supporting both acute care and outpatient rehabilitation settings in Spruce Pine, NC.
Details
- Position is based within a hospital rehabilitation services department, operating across an acute care setting (60-bed hospital) and two outpatient clinics, including a Burnsville outpatient location
- Day shift hours are 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
- Patient load is approximately 9–11 patients per day per FTE
- EMR systems used include Cerner for acute care and Nethealth Xfits (formerly ReDoc) for outpatient
- Available equipment includes PT modalities, a pool, cardiovascular equipment, Biodex balance system, and a fitness center
- Weekend rotation required every 5th weekend; Saturday shifts involve priority patients only (approx. 2–3 hours); no Sunday visits required
- Staff team includes PTs, PTAs, OTs, a COTA, and an SLP
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of PT experience, with active practice within the last 6 months required
- Both outpatient and acute care experience are required
- Active NC PT license required (license required if applicable)
- Candidates with orthopedic, sports medicine, spine, manual therapy, vestibular, vertigo, or stroke experience are preferred
- No gaps in work history totaling 90 days or more within the past 12 months
- SSN and DOB required for consideration
- One professional reference required (two references required if licensed in Florida or Missouri)

- Typical procedures include therapeutic exercise, manual therapy, vestibular rehabilitation, balance training, and gait training
- Ideal candidates are team-oriented and outgoing
- Acute care dress code: eggplant/purple scrubs; outpatient dress code: business attire or polo with khakis
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates will not be considered
