American Traveler is seeking an experienced NICU RN with a minimum of 3 years in a Level 3 or 4 ICN for a 13-week night shift contract requiring ventilator experience and NRP certification.
Details- NICU setting within a hospital environment caring for critically ill neonates
- Patient population includes premature infants (as young as 22 weeks), surgical infants, and hypoxic injury cases
- Specialized procedures include Therapeutic Hypothermia, Nitric Oxide therapy, UAC/UVC, PCL placement, Broviac, Trachs, GTT, and Ostomies
- Equipment used includes Tecotherm, BCPAP, Ram NC, Alaris IV pumps, Med Fusion for feedings, Servo Vents, HFOV, Baby Leo, and Giraffe warmers
- Charting systems include Epic and Pyxis; Epic experience preferred
- Patient ratios are 1:2–4
- 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:15 AM (18:45–07:15), 36 hours per week
- Self-scheduling per unit needs
- Weekend requirement: 3 Fridays, 3 Saturdays, and 3 Sundays per 6-week period
- No on-call responsibilities
- Floating may be required to Peds, PICU, or Nursery for infants up to 12 months of age
- 13-week contract minimum; longer contracts may be available
- Active NC RN license or Compact RN license (license/certs pending at time of consideration are acceptable)
- Current BLS and NRP certifications required
- Minimum 3 years of NICU experience in a Level 3 or 4 ICN required
- Ventilator experience required
- Two professional manager/supervisor references from within the past 12 months are highly preferred
- Former permanent, PRN, or EP staff of Novant Health or New Hanover must have a 12-month gap before being eligible to apply as a traveler
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility are accepted
- 24 hours of unit orientation provided; orientation begins on a weekly schedule
- Pre-start online modules are required (approximately 8–10 hours for acute care roles) and must also be completed annually
- Candidates must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
- RTO is not permitted during the first week of assignment due to orientation; up to 7 days of RTO may be approved provided it does not fall on a holiday
- Travel pairs are allowed, but each traveler must have their own transportation and be comfortable with potentially different schedules
- Scrub color requirement: navy blue or white
