American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical Surgical position at a Level I Trauma Center and Magnet-designated academic teaching hospital, requiring Epic proficiency and active VA or Compact RN license.

• Medical Surgical unit in a large, Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma Center (adult and pediatric) academic teaching hospital in Roanoke, VA
• Adult acute care patient population including elective back surgeries, trauma, prostate cancer, gallbladder, and cellulitis cases
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts, 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM
• Weekend requirement: every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week scheduling block
• One holiday shift required per 13-week contract
• Floating within skillset required
• May be required to work in a charge nurse or preceptor capacity
• Epic charting system experience required

• Active Virginia state or Compact RN license required; pending license accepted only for candidates holding a single-state license from a non-compact state
• Current BLS certification required
• Proficient Med/Surg nursing experience, including familiarity with Rapid Response and Code team protocols
• Skilled in peripheral line care and management, nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, oxygen administration, and isolation precautions
• Epic EMR experience required
• Two professional references required for consideration
• Valid driver's license and Social Security card required for consideration

• The hospital is a certified stroke center affiliated with Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine, University of Virginia, and Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine
• Magnet designation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center, recognized for nursing excellence for over 20 years
