American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry night shift position at an acute care hospital in Orangeburg, SC, requiring at least 2 years of MS/Tele experience and AHA-certified BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS.
Details- Work setting is an acute care hospital (286 staffed beds) on a newly established Med/Surg Telemetry unit currently operating with 10 open beds
- Unit is staffed with 2 RNs and 1 tech per shift; charge responsibilities are shared between stepdown and the 3 West unit
- Patient ratio is 1:5
- Bedside monitoring includes telemetry, BP, and pulse ox capabilities
- Shift is nights, 3x12-hour shifts (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM)
- Every other weekend is required and non-negotiable
- No on-call requirements
- Floating within scope to meet facility needs is required
- Charting is done in Epic
- No off-shift management on-site, though leadership is reachable by phone; a house supervisor is available 24/7
- Active SC RN license or Compact RN license; candidates with a pending SC license may be considered but must have it in hand before starting
- Minimum 2 years of MS/Tele nursing experience required
- Current AHA certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Experience with telemetry interpretation and dysrhythmia recognition required
- Community hospital experience preferred
- SSN and Driver's License required for consideration
- 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply for this position
- Candidates who have previously worked as permanent staff or PRN at any MUSC location must have been separated from the MUSC system for at least 1 year before being eligible to work as a traveler
- Non-local candidates are prioritized; local candidates (within 60 miles of the facility) are accepted
- All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted upfront; approval is based on facility needs
- Pre-assignment online modules are required to be completed before the start date
- Royal blue scrubs are required
- Parking is provided at no cost
- Travelers should be aware that during hurricane season (June–November), all staff and contractors may be assigned to emergency response duties; peak activity months are August and September
