American Traveler is hiring an Interventional Radiology Technologist for a day shift contract at an academic medical center in the greater Chicagoland area, requiring ARRT certification and a minimum of 2 years of experience.
Details- Interventional Radiology and Cath Lab departments within a world-class academic medical center
- Work settings include a diagnostic cardiac cath lab, interventional cardiac cath lab, and electrophysiology (EP) lab
- Performs procedures for both inpatients and outpatients across all age groups
- Procedures include angioplasty, aortography, cardiac catheterizations (left and right heart), PCI, pacemaker insertions, EP studies, cardiac ablation, cardiac mapping, cardioversion, IABP placement/removal, ASD closures, and vascular closure systems (Perclose, StarClose)
- Skills utilized include hemodynamic monitoring, interpretation of dysrhythmias, recognition of life-threatening arrhythmias, sterile scrub technique, and room circulator duties
- Equipment includes fluoroscopy, computed tomography, ultrasound, and PACS
- Epic EMR required
- 5x8 hour day shifts, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
- Call coverage runs 3:30 PM to 7:00 AM on weekdays; weekend call runs from 3:30 PM Friday through 7:00 AM Monday
- Call is shared among a three-person team, consisting of 2 nurses and 1 tech or 2 techs and 1 nurse
- 100% onsite position; candidates must be based in the greater Chicagoland area
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in Interventional Radiology
- Graduate of an AMA-approved school of Radiologic Technology
- Active ARRT (R) certification required; ACLS preferred
- Active BLS certification from the AHA required
- Active Illinois radiography license/accreditation required; license required if applicable
- Proficiency with fluoroscopy, CT, ultrasound, and PACS
- Experience with vascular closure systems, hemodynamic monitoring, and sterile scrub technique
- Epic EMR experience required
- Ability to work under pressure and respond quickly and accurately in emergent situations
- First-time travelers are accepted for this position
- Responsibilities include performing general radiographic imaging in-department and with mobile x-ray units, assisting with fluoroscopy, and assisting in the instruction of radiology students
- Works under the supervision of the Chief Technologist – Interventional Radiology
- Facility requires intimate knowledge of sophisticated interventional radiology equipment
- Non-billable orientation modules of approximately 2–3 hours are completed during orientation
- Local candidates are accepted
- RTO is limited to no more than 3 days; no RTO is permitted during the first or last week of the contract
- Any block scheduling or special schedule requests must be communicated prior to or during the interview; requests made after offer acceptance or onsite will not be honored
- Former employees of any University of Chicago Medicine location (including PRN or permanent staff) must have been separated for at least 7 months before returning as a traveler
- 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years are required for consideration
