An exciting opportunity to join our creative, energetic, dedicated team of professionals! LARE Institute at American Training is seeking a full-time Instructor to teach In-person ESL classes at our Andover location. This is a full-time teaching position, M-F, 8-4:30 pm.
The LARE Institute is a Private Occupational School branch of American Training with state, global, and industry-recognized certifications in Allied Health Care, Business, Trade and Education Programs. SPECIFIC DUTIES:
- Must provide extraordinary customer service.
- Presents program information, individually or in groups, to interested parties.
- Instructs Students in the following classes:
- ESL
- English Grammar and Usage
- Oral Communication’
- Reading
- Writing
- Listening
- Survival Skills/English in the Workplace
- Computer Skills
- Vocational Exploration
- Job Readiness English
- Implements WOW! Magic Principles when teaching.
- Documents daily attendance.
- Implements curriculum, daily planning and correcting.
- Takes initiative in developing new and more effective ways to deliver services.
- Maintains student files with program-related paperwork including but not limited to:
- Attendance records
- Pre- and post-test results
- Worksheets, tests and quizzes
- Monthly progress reports.
- Ensures all required reports are completed and submitted on-time.
- Establishes working relationship with LARE Case Manager regarding Students’ progress.
- Develops, implements and modifies curricula as needed.
- Creates lesson plans.
- Attends relative education and teaching seminars.
- Employs various fun and effective instructional and class management techniques.
- Supervises students during program hours in all program-related activities.
- Immediately reports any concerning unusual behavior of a student to LARE Case Manager’s, Site Director or Director.
- Assists Program Director with proposal writing, program-related activities and tasks as needed.
- Attends colleague meetings.
- Participates in WOW! Magic Event preparation and cleanup.
- Demonstrates a professional image and attitude at all times.
- Ensures that facility is kept clean at all times.
- Occasional overtime hours required.
Skills Needed:
- Creates a fun and entertaining experience in the classroom.
- Ability to communicate effectively in a variety of situations, including in front of a large group.
- Able to relate well with all levels of personnel, individually and in a group.
- Able to work as a productive member of a team.
- Familiarity with varied cultures.
- Knowledge of ESL teaching methods.
- Ability to combine teaching of critical thinking skills with skills necessary for communication in English.
- Application of excellent interpersonal skills with Colleagues and Students
- Ability to motivate, inspire, and empower Students to achieve their goals.
- Time management and organizational skills.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree and/or at least two years previous related experience.
- Able to present and communicate effectively in a variety of situations, including in front of a large group
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Must maintain a positive and professional attitude
- Bilingual preferred (Spanish – English)
