Position: Substitute Medical Assistant Instructor (Per Diem)
Schedule: As needed; day classes run 8:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. and evening classes run 5:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.
Location: Cherry Hill, NJ
Reports To: Program Director

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced, dependable Medical Assistant professional to join our substitute instructor pool. Substitute Instructors step in to lead our Clinical Medical Assistant class, which includes phlebotomy and EKG training, when our regular instructors are unavailable. In this role, you will deliver engaging instruction across classroom, clinical, and laboratory settings while keeping students on track with the established syllabus and lesson plans. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled clinician who enjoys teaching and wants a flexible way to help prepare the next generation of healthcare professionals.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Delivers instruction based on the course syllabus and lesson plans provided by the Program Director or lead instructor, maintaining continuity for students.
• Teaches class material with the depth and scope outlined in the syllabus and catalog, relating instruction to career and employer expectations.
• Administers and grades examinations and lab check-offs as scheduled, following established course objectives and grading criteria.
• Uses engaging, creative teaching methods that support various learning styles and keep students motivated.
• Begins and ends each class at the designated times, providing a full period of instruction.
• Leaves the classroom or laboratory clean, organized, and ready for the next class.
• Accurately maintains attendance records in accordance with the Attendance Policy.
• Documents material covered, student progress, and any concerns at the end of each session so the regular instructor and Program Director can follow up.
• Responds promptly to coverage requests and communicates availability to the Program Director.
• Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

• Strong phlebotomy and EKG skills
• Ability to quickly adapt to an existing class, curriculum, and lesson plan
• Ability to make sound procedural decisions and handle sensitive, confidential issues appropriately
• Ability to work effectively with diverse populations
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Ability to manage classroom dynamics and maintain a productive learning environment.
• Knowledge of academic and/or vocational education curricula.
• Knowledge of and ability to apply relevant current education methodologies and techniques.
• Flexibility to accept day and/or evening assignments on short notice

Qualifications:

• Currently certification as a Clinical Medical Assistant
• Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience working as a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant within the past 10 years
• Proof of successful completion of a curriculum and instruction course offered through an accredited college
• Experience with phlebotomy & EKG
• Experience as a Medical Assistant Instructor preferred

Minimum Job Requirements: HS diploma or equivalent required. Associates degree preferred.

Medical Assistant coursework includes the following content areas: clinical skills, pharmacology, medical billing and coding, medical records, human resources, medical administration, anatomy and physiology, and pathology.
