General Summary:
Develops, tests, and runs coordinate measuring machine programs to inspect manufactured parts against CAD models and engineering drawings. Ensures precision quality control, utilizes GD&T principles, and provides detailed reports to meet automotive standards.
Duties/Responsibilities:
· Develop, edit, and debug programs for CMMs to measure parts.
· Work from blueprints, drawings, layouts, or other specifications to plan sequences of operations for creating/operating CMM programs.
· Verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances of finished parts for conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as calipers, gauge blocks, micrometers, and dial indicators.
· Perform first article inspection and routine checks to verify GD&T specifications.
· Interpret results, generate reports, and use Statistical Process Control tools to improve quality.
· Calibrate and maintain machines/probes to ensure optimal functionality.
· Work with engineering/production teams to solve quality issues and reduce cycle times.
· Design or oversee the setup of holding fixtures and jigs.
Qualifications and Skills:
· Proficient in reading blueprints, understanding GD&T, and manipulating CAD models.
· Ability to use hand tools like calipers, micrometers, and height gauges.
· Strong attention to detail, proactive problem-solving, and good communication skills.
· Basic knowledge of mathematics, algebra, and physics.
Preferred Education and Experience:
· High school diploma or GED required; technical degree or certificate preferred
· Minimum 4 years of combined experience and training as a CMM programmer/operator.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position. The standard working hours are Monday through Friday, however, overtime will be required based on workload demands, including weekdays, and weekends. The position is set in a manufacturing floor environment requiring standing for long periods of time, lifting to 50lbs, and wearing PPE.
