Title: Metallurgical Technician

Metallurgical Technician Position Summary:
This position exists to perform machining of test pieces as well as hand-on materials testing. Based in our Miamisburg, Ohio headquarters, this position works closely with other Metallurgical Technicians and our Materials Engineers in the Metallurgical department. Candidates must also have the ability to work independently when needed to process multiple jobs simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
Metallurgical Technician Essential Responsibilities:
· Follow instructions from materials engineers and/or work orders to execute various sample preparations and follow standard operating procedures.
· Prepare test specimens for mechanical testing utilizing various machining equipment (CNC lathe, mill, grinding wheel, etc.)
· Prepare samples for metallographic evaluation by use of abrasive / band saws, mounting presses, and polishing equipment.
· Perform materials laboratory testing and analysis.
· Perform daily routine maintenance on equipment.
· Preserve accurate and legible labeling of results as well as samples and remnants during and after processing work orders.
· Maintain high degree of organization and cleanliness in work areas.
· Adhere to all quality and safety standards.
· Additional duties as assigned by management.
Metallurgical Technician Education and Experience:
· High school diploma or equivalent.
· Manufacturing experience preferred.
· Experience with lathes, mills, abrasive saws, and bandsaw a plus.
· Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) as well as other organizational/planning tools.

· Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and talk/hear as well as occasionally stoop or kneel.
· Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee works near moving mechanical parts and is exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals (under fume hood). The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
