Position Summary

As a sales-oriented organization, the company's Technical Services Specialist serves as a key member of the organization’s customer service team; specifically supporting the value-added fabrication/processing business. The Technical Services Specialist will work in conjunction with the inside sales team to obtain customer designs and/or order specifications; ensuring all technical aspects are met to the customer requirements. The Technical Services Specialist will also support the shop floor to ensure projects are executed properly.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Foster a culture of safety awareness & safety prioritization.
  • Ensure that quality standards are met, champion quality ownership of work center.
  • Enforce all company rules, policies, and procedures; communicate concerns with division management and/or Corporate.
  • Generate and submit technical sales quotes.
  • Build strong customer relationships to understand their evolving needs and provide proactive solutions.
  • Collaborate with the outside sales team to close deals and ensure seamless customer experience.
  • Analyze customer/engineering requests – such as diagrams, schematics, layouts, multi-view, and various drawings.
  • Assist Manager with day-to-day CAD requests/processing orders.

  • Scale and tailor drawings using a computer aided drafting system.
  • Determine design factors such as size, shape, and arrangement of parts.
  • File drawings and maintain catalogs of CAD/drawing data.
  • Assist in compiling materials and specification sheets.
  • Assist with dimensions and annotates routine drawings.
  • Trouble shoot and support the shop floor fabrication team to ensure jobs are executed as quoted.
  • Assist with any other assigned duties that are given by a member of the ASA management team.
  • Perform any other tasks or duties as assigned by the division and/or corporate management team.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Minimum of 1-2 years of CAD drawing experience preferred.
  • Experience with the following design programs highly preferred: ERP / MRP Experience; AutoCAD, Inventor, Solidworks Plus or similar; ProNest; Fusion 360
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing organization preferred.
  • Ability to read and understand customer prints, drawings, and models.
  • Ability to work independently and be part of a team.
  • Be self-directed and capable of prioritizing opportunities and performing multiple tasks.
  • Proactive, solutions oriented.
  • A quick learner and ability to communicate with a diverse clientele group.
  • Good presentation skills and ability to communicate concisely.
  • High energy, positive attitude, proactive problem solver.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Strong mathematical aptitude.

Education Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent is required.
  • Bachelor’s or Associates Degree is highly preferred.
  • Technical school and/or practical experience is highly preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift at least 25 pounds.
  • Ability to perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and moving the whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.
  • Close mental and visual attention required, coordinating manual dexterity with mental and visual attention for sustained periods of time.
  • Pass initial drug test and physical.
