Position Summary
The American Steel and Aluminum Customer Service / Inventory Manager is responsible for daily customer communications, initiate sales orders when material is released, receiving and maintain accurate inventory records within the ERP system of “customer owned” inventory.
The candidate must be friendly, courteous, professional, an effective communicator, and team player.
What You'll Do
- Foster a culture of safety awareness & prioritization.
- Ensure that quality standards are met, champion quality ownership of work center.
- Receive incoming storage and/or production material into the ERP system using the company’s tagging system to maintain traceability.
- Provide storage inventory updates to the customer upon request.
- Independent, periodic cycle counts of stored material.
- Handle inventory moves from storage to production within the ERP system.
- Handle inventory moves from production back to storage.
- Work with the shipping & receiving team to ensure smooth processing of customer-owned material in all phases of the operation.
- Enforce all company rules, policies, and procedures; communicate issues or concerns with division management and/or Corporate.
- Perform any other tasks or duties assigned by the division and/or corporate management team.
Required Skills and Experience
- 2–4 years of experience in Customer service, inventory control, warehouse operations, or supply chain management.
- Familiarity with ERP or Warehouse Management Systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite).
- 1 year of supervisory or lead experience preferred with Customer service experience preferred.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Proficiency with software systems including MS Office, database management, and other business-related systems.
- Experience working in a distribution or manufacturing organization preferred.
- Accuracy and attention to detail are critical to success.
- Excellent written and verbal skills.
- Proactive, solutions oriented.
- Good presentation skills and ability to communicate concisely.
- Be self-directed and capable of prioritizing opportunities and performing multiple tasks.
- A quick learner and ability to communicate with a diverse clientele group.
- High energy, positive attitude, proactive problem solver.
Education Requirements
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent is required.
- Industry experience with a Bachelor’s Degree in a business centric discipline preferred.
