Job Announcement: Fractional Marketing Manager
American Stage | St. Petersburg, Florida
American Stage seeks a fractional, hands-on Marketing Manager & Strategist for a four-month engagement. This consultant will help strengthen marketing systems, increase audience engagement, and support ticket sales for 3 MainStage productions and our large-scale, American Stage in the Park production during a period of organizational transition.
The strategist will work closely with the Interim Artistic Director, fractional digital marketing and graphic design manager, development director, and Board leadership to develop and execute practical, responsive, results-oriented marketing strategies.
Responsibilities include:
- Assess current marketing efforts, audience data, and campaign performance.
- Develop integrated marketing plans for upcoming productions and events.
- Support ticket sales, subscriptions, audience development, and patron retention.
- Provide hands-on guidance with campaign messaging, email marketing, social media, digital advertising, and media relations.
- Act as the point person for media relations, including ad campaign oversight.
- Establish clear goals, timelines, benchmarks, and reporting practices.
- Strengthen coordination among marketing, box office, development, and artistic departments.
- Recommend efficient systems and workflows appropriate for a lean nonprofit organization.
- Track results and provide regular progress updates.
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience in arts, theatre, events, or nonprofit marketing.
- Strong understanding of audience development and ticket-selling strategies.
- Ability to create compelling campaign messaging and execute marketing tactics directly.
- Experience working collaboratively with small teams and limited resources.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Practical, adaptable, and comfortable working in a changing environment.
Sample work week may include:
2 hours planning sessions with AS team
4 hours strategy development, implementation and metrics
2 hours marketing systems development
1-2 hours media communications/oversight
The contract term is four months with the possibility of a contract extension, with an anticipated fractional schedule to be determined based on organizational needs. Compensation is $65-$75 per hour based on relevant experience.
