Machine Coating Operator

The Machine Operator must be willing and capable of learning all aspects of spiral weld pipe manufacturing. The operator duties include the Machine Coat Operator I station duties described below. Other duties may be assigned, including but not limited to cross training and housekeeping. Responsibilities also include attention to safety according to all safety rules.

1. Coordinates priorities for specific customer orders with Team Leader.
2. Reschedules identical processes to eliminate duplicate machine setups.
3. Confers with department Team Leader to determine progress of work and to provide information on changes in processing methods received from production control or engineering departments.
4. Positions pipe for blasting, positions shrouds for protection, operates blasting control console to perform blasting operations per drawings and specifications.
5. Applies primer, coating, or tape per customer specifications by operating machinery and monitoring application of tape or coating.
6. Maintains blasting, taping and coating machinery by performing preventive maintenance, and reports repair or extensive maintenance requirements to Team Leader.
7. Reads customer specification and drawings to determine type of coating, position of holdbacks and other specifications for setting up pipe for taping and/or coating operations.
8. Reads, understands and interprets specifications for pipe finishing and for bracing pipe in preparation for shipping.
9. Measures wood pieces for stulling or bracing pipe; select proper wood pieces, cut and shape as required for proper fit in pipe and install.
10. Places bracings in completed pipe according to shipping specifications.
11. Places end caps on pipe.
12. Removes pipe from work area and stages it for removal to yard, shipping area, or fab finishing area.
13. Performs other tasks as instructed by supervision.

5. Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
6. Must be able to compute ratio and percent and to interpret bar graphs.
7. Must be able to read and interpret linear and circumference measurements using tape measures and calipers.
8. Must be able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
9. Must be able to read, interpret, and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
10. Must be able to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
11. Must be able to operate computer controlled hydrostatic test stand, including reading and interpreting console indicators and gauges, and using control console to conduct tests.
12. Must be able to read, write and effectively communicate in English.
13. Must have the willingness to rotate to different positions as requested by manager or team leader.

Salary : $19 - $26
