Nature of the Position:

The Multimedia Content Producer serves as ASLA’s lead, in-house visual storyteller and production engine. This is a high-impact, execution-focused role responsible for the capture and craft of compelling video content that elevates the landscape architecture profession. Working as a central content feeder for the Society, this position develops high-quality visual assets that support ASLA’s mission-driven visual storytelling for public relations, outreach, advocacy, marketing, and member engagement goals.

Working across departments and with ASLA chapters, this role brings the Society’s mission, values, and impact to life through dynamic, high-quality video content for web, social media, and live events.

This is a hands-on production role with creative freedom and high visibility. The ideal candidate is a collaborative content creator who can spot a great story, capture it with care, and shape it into engaging visual narratives that resonate across audiences.

Responsibilities:

Content Creation & Storytelling

  • Develop short- and long-form video content that highlights ASLA programs, initiatives, members, and events.
  • Serve as primary producer and editor for video-based communications.
  • Collaborate across the organization to align video content with campaigns, audience needs, and brand voice.
  • Support the development of a multi-year multimedia content strategy that elevates ASLA’s strategic plan and national voice.

 Production & Editing

  • Plan and execute all stages of video production: concept development, scripting, filming, audio, editing, motion graphics, captioning, and final delivery.
  • Film on-site at ASLA headquarters, ASLA events (e.g., annual conference), and occasionally in the field with members or partners. Occasional travel required.
  • Proactively identify and capture "bonus" content during primary shoots to maximize asset utility for social media and PR.
  • Manage and maintain ASLA’s video equipment and production workflows, ensuring high standards for lighting, audio, editing, and technical execution.
  • Ensure all video content meets accessibility standards and is optimized for digital platforms.

 Project & Vendor Support

  • Assist in the coordination and review of video work contracted to external vendors or creative partners.
  • Ensure that externally produced videos meet ASLA’s visual, narrative, and technical standards.
  • Serve as a point of contact for vendor collaboration and feedback.

 Cross-Team Collaboration

  • Work with staff across departments—including Government Affairs, Member & Chapter Services, Education, and Development—to bring their stories to life visually.
  • Provide strategic and technical guidance to staff and chapters on video planning and execution.
  • Assist in creating templates or guides to support consistent video use across ASLA and its chapters.

Preferred Background / Experience:

Education:

BA/BS in journalism, film/media production, communications, or a related field.

Understanding of brand consistency, video analytics, and visual narrative structure. Experience:

Minimum 5 years of professional video production experience in journalism, nonprofit/association communications, or branded storytelling. Experience working within a cross-functional communications and marketing environment is strongly desired. Prior experience managing or reviewing external creative projects is a plus.
