Position Overview
We are seeking a Controls Engineer to support the design, development, installation, and optimization of electrical control systems in an industrial manufacturing environment. This position is responsible for electrical system design, automation programming, equipment integration, and process improvement initiatives across production facilities.
The Controls Engineer will work closely with operations, maintenance, fabrication, and engineering teams to develop and implement solutions that improve equipment reliability, efficiency, safety, and performance. Projects may include new equipment installations, facility expansions, control system upgrades, and hardware/software modernization efforts.

Shift: Day Shift
Weekly hours: 45-50 per week
Compensation: offered salary will depend on experience and education
Key Responsibilities
Electrical & Controls Engineering
- Design and develop electrical control systems for industrial manufacturing equipment and processes.
- Create and maintain electrical schematics, panel layouts, and supporting documentation using CAD software.
- Design and implement control system upgrades and automation improvements.
- Specify, select, and procure electrical components, controls hardware, instrumentation, and automation equipment.
- Support installation, commissioning, startup, and troubleshooting activities for new and existing systems.
Automation & Programming
- Develop and modify automation and control software for manufacturing processes.
- Configure, test, and troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, drives, and related control systems.
- Diagnose control system and electrical issues and implement corrective solutions.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives through automation and process optimization.
Project Engineering
- Evaluate existing equipment and manufacturing processes to identify improvement opportunities.
- Perform cost-benefit analyses and develop technical recommendations for proposed projects.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to determine effective technical solutions.
- Prepare engineering documentation for project reviews and approval processes.
- Support project execution from concept through implementation and commissioning.
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain accurate electrical drawings, specifications, and project records.
- Ensure designs and installations comply with applicable codes, standards, and company requirements.
- Conduct inspections and functional testing of electrical systems and equipment.
- Provide project status updates and support internal project cost tracking.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical field required.
Experience
- 6 years of experience in industrial manufacturing, controls engineering, automation, or electrical system design and installation.
- Experience with PLC programming and industrial control systems.
- Experience supporting process improvement and automation projects in a manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with industrial electrical equipment, instrumentation, and control panel design.
- Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will be considered.
- Experience specifying, selecting, and implementing industrial equipment and components preferred.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical preferred; experience with other CAD platforms will be considered.
- Ability to interpret and develop electrical schematics, technical drawings, and control system documentation.
- Strong understanding of industrial automation systems and electrical fundamentals.
- Experience troubleshooting electrical and electronic systems.
- Knowledge of control system integration, testing, and commissioning practices.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Pay: $92,000.00 - $112,000.00 per year
