What You'll Do As Chief Technical Officer, you'll provide executive leadership and strategic direction for ASCE's technical enterprise. You'll:
- Set and advance a unified technical vision aligned with ASCE's strategic plan
- Lead and oversee ASCE's nine technical institutes and the Center for Technical Advancement
- Serve as a senior thought leader and spokesperson on critical technical issues impacting the profession
- Anticipate and respond to emerging technical, regulatory, and societal trends affecting infrastructure, sustainability, resilience, health, and safety
- Partner closely with volunteer leaders, industry, public agencies, and academia to strengthen ASCE's technical influence
- Ensure coordination, quality, and consistency across technical programs, publications, conferences, and continuing education
- Foster collaboration across ASCE's technical and geographic regions
- Represent ASCE with allied organizations and external stakeholders
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field (advanced degree strongly preferred)
- Minimum of 15 years of progressive leadership experience in civil engineering, infrastructure, or related technical fields
- Proven success leading complex, multi-disciplinary technical organizations or programs
- Demonstrated experience managing senior leaders, large teams, and multi-million-dollar budgets
- Strong strategic vision, executive presence, and stakeholder influence
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Experience working with volunteer governance structures and boards
- National or international reputation as a technical leader or subject-matter expert
