What are the responsibilities and job description for the Policy Advisor position at American Society for Reproductive Medicine?
Job Purpose: Support federal and state legislative tracking and provide targeted policy analysis. Collaborate with the Director and Manager of Government Affairs to develop and advance policy strategies. Partner with Membership Engagement Specialist to execute advocacy initiatives, including media campaigns, in-district engagement, and strategic lobbying efforts.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Government Affairs
- Research, track, and analyze legislation and regulations.
- Send letters and testimony opposing or supporting legislation to legislators.
- Send policy advocacy alerts to ASRM members.
- Represent ASRM’s Office of Public Affairs in coalitions and external settings.
- Communicate and coordinate with contract lobbyists.
Qualifications:
Required:
- At least two years of hands-on policy experience
- Experience working with legislation tracking systems and grassroots advocacy software
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in D.C. office several days per month
Preferred:
- Facility with and ability to translate complex medical and scientific concepts for policymakers and other audiences
- Bachelor’s Degree
Location: ASRM Office, Washington, D.C. Can be remote.
Job Context: Office Setting, no environmental or job hazards; some travel required
Pay: $900.00 - $950.00 per week
