Responsibilities
- Collects patient samples in accordance with laboratory's policy, procedures, and regulatory standards
- Documents receipt of patient samples in the LIS/EMR; processes and prepares samples for testing.
- May perform and report basic laboratory testing, as needed.
- Uses education and experience to identify and resolve patient circumstances that might interfere with accurate sample collection
- Communicates effectively with nursing and unit staff to relay information concerning patient collections
