Overview
The Purchasing Associate coordinates purchasing activities and expedites the flow of materials, parts, and assemblies between departments. This role is crucial for ensuring the timely procurement of materials, equipment, and supplies to meet production schedules. The Purchasing Associate will engage with various stakeholders, manage vendor relationships, and contribute to process improvements, all while maintaining compliance with company policies and quality standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Follow written work instructions for purchasing products.
  • Maintains data entry in the Global Shop System for processing purchase orders.
  • Evaluate vendor quotations to ensure optimal quality, price, delivery, and service.
  • Effectively manage time and resources to maintain an online data system for high volume orders.
  • Recruit and maintain suppliers to provide high quality products and services at competitive prices.
  • Prepare and issues purchase orders and change notices according to Global Shop prompts and Kanban procurement cards.
  • Interface with Quality Assurance, Sales, Engineering, Customer Service and other relevant internal stakeholders.
  • Reviews purchase order claims and contracts for compliance with company policy, accurate pricing, and specification acceptability.
  • Assist with monthly inventory reporting and the annual inventory process.
  • Perform reception, mail delivery, and switchboard duties.
  • Undertake other related duties as assigned by management.

Education and Experience:

  • Relevant associate degree preferred; two years’ related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with vendors, customers, and employees.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Reasoning Ability: Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Interpret a range of instructions in various formats.
