The American School for the Deaf (ASD) is the oldest school for the deaf, founded in 1817 by Thomas Hopkins Gallaudet and Laurent Clerc. POSITION DESCRIPTION
Position: Pupil Personnel Services Coordinator

Supervisor: Assistant Superintendent

SCOPE OF DUTIES
Under the direction of the Assistant Superintendent or Director of Education, the Pupil Personnel Services Coordinator (PPS) serves as the primary liaison for school districts, serves as chair for PPT meetings, and other special projects as designated by the Assistant Superintendent or DOE.
PRIMARY DUTIES
- Serves as the liaison between Administration and LEA.
- Plan and chair PPT meetings.
- Supervise and evaluate certified/licensed personnel as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent or DOE
- Supervise and support departments as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent or DOE
- Assists with the coordination of testing including NWEA, State, SAT, etc.
- Collaborate with the Education Department to ensure compliance of all special education records.
- Attends meetings with administration as needed.
- Oversees interns and student teachers, as assigned by the DOE.
- Coverage for ESY program to be determined by supervisor.
- Remain current in special education laws, regulations, and research on best practices.
- Support administration with school-wide accreditations.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- State of CT Intermediate Supervision Certificate (092) or pending application to secure same plus additional endorsement in an area of special education (057, 065, 070).
- Comprehensive knowledge of state and federal laws, statutes, and regulations pertaining to Special Education.
- Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills.
- Demonstrated proficiency with CT-SEDS and CT Leader and Educator Evaluation Support.
- Ability to work in a collaborative team setting.
- Fluency in ASL preferred or willingness to learn.
SALARY AND BENEFITS:
- Group health insurance and other fringe benefits are available.
- $1000 sign on bonus after one year of service for newly hired employees, not applicable for re-hires.
