Position Summary

The Project Manager – Environmental Services is responsible for overseeing multiple environmental response and industrial service projects simultaneously, providing leadership to Environmental Response Supervisors and field crews. This role ensures safe, compliant, and efficient completion of accident cleanups, hazardous waste management, tank cleaning, and industrial service projects. The Project Manager serves as a critical link between the Operations Manager and on-site Supervisors, ensuring field execution aligns with operational goals, safety standards, and customer expectations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide oversight, guidance, and support to Environmental Response Supervisors across multiple projects and job sites.
  • Monitor project progress, ensuring work is performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with OSHA, DOT, EPA, and state regulations.
  • Assist in planning, scheduling, and resource allocation for environmental response and industrial service projects.
  • Conduct site visits to evaluate performance, enforce safety protocols, and resolve operational challenges.
  • Coordinate with the Operations Manager to implement company policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and corrective actions.
  • Ensure Supervisors and Technicians are trained, equipped, and supported to perform their duties effectively.
  • Serve as an escalation point for field issues, customer concerns, or safety incidents.
  • Review and approve daily activity logs submitted by Supervisors.
  • Support Operations Manager in budgeting, cost control, and utilization of equipment and labor resources.
  • Lead job site safety meetings and promote a strong safety culture across all teams.
  • This position must be able to travel frequently and on short notice to support project sites, Supervisors, and emergency response operations.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Industrial Management, Safety, or related field preferred.
  • 5 years of experience in environmental services, spill response, or hazardous materials management, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Strong working knowledge of environmental response protocols, hazardous waste handling, and compliance standards.
  • HAZWOPER 40-Hour certification required; OSHA Supervisor and Incident Command training preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record; CDL with hazardous materials endorsement preferred.
  • Confined Space Entry certification (or ability to obtain).
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multiple crews and manage projects simultaneously.

Work Environment

  • Field-based with frequent travel to active job sites, including accident scenes, spill locations, and industrial facilities.
  • Exposure to outdoor weather conditions, hazardous substances, and high-risk work environments.
  • Regular use of PPE including respirators, chemical protective clothing, gloves, safety glasses, hard hats, and steel-toe boots.
  • Extended hours, shift work, and on-call availability required to support 24/7 operations.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Frequent walking, standing, bending, kneeling, and climbing in field conditions.
  • Ability to wear PPE and respiratory protection for extended periods.
  • Must maintain medical clearance for respirator use and fit testing.
