Job Summary

The Rubber Department Supervisor leads all production activities within the rubber value stream at American Roller’s Rock Hill, SC facility. This hands-on leader ensures safe, high-quality, and efficient rubber processing while meeting customer demand and production goals. The Supervisor will drive continuous improvement, develop team members, and support Lean initiatives that enhance workflow, product flow, and operational performance. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on the production floor, enjoys problem-solving, and is passionate about coaching a team to success.

Key Responsibilities

Lead & Supervise the Rubber Department

  • Oversee all rubber department employees, ensuring production goals for safety, quality, delivery, and cost are consistently met.
  • Assign daily work, monitor progress, and support operators during setups, changeovers, and troubleshooting activities.
  • Serve as the subject-matter expert for rubber processing, equipment, workflows, and standards.

Safety, Quality & Compliance

  • Promote and model a strong safety-first culture.
  • Ensure team members follow all safety procedures, PPE requirements, and operational guidelines.
  • Verify all products meet customer specifications. Partner with Quality, Engineering, or other teams to address nonconformances or quality concerns.

Production Efficiency & Process Improvement

  • Manage daily production scheduling, labor allocation, and workflow to meet customer delivery expectations.
  • Identify bottlenecks and implement corrective actions to increase throughput and reduce downtime.
  • Lead and support Continuous Improvement activities including Lean, 5S, Kaizen, root cause analysis, and value stream mapping.
  • Collaborate with the Southeast Operations Manager on improving processes, implementing new technologies, and optimizing rubber department operations.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Train, mentor, and develop team members to build a skilled and engaged workforce.
  • Set goals, conduct performance reviews, and create development plans that support cross-training and continuous growth.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, communication, and problem-solving.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Maintenance, Engineering, Scheduling, Supply Chain, and other departments to ensure smooth operations and timely fulfillment.
  • Communicate resource needs, production updates, and equipment issues proactively.
  • Support integration of new equipment, processes, or technology within the rubber value stream.

Equipment & Facility Oversight

  • Ensure all equipment (extruders, mills, lathes, etc.) is used safely and properly.
  • Coordinate preventive maintenance schedules and ensure a strong PM culture is upheld.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment aligned with Lean and 5S principles.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience.
  • 3 years of manufacturing/operations experience, ideally with exposure to rubber or related industrial processes.
  • 2 years of leadership or supervisor experience in a production environment.
  • Strong understanding of production flow, machine operations, scheduling, and quality expectations.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, RCCA, and continuous improvement practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to implement data-driven improvements.
  • Ability to lead through change, motivate teams, and align resources with business objectives.
  • Experience in rubber, tissue towel, blown film, or similar industries is highly beneficial.

Pay: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
