Job Summary:
Our Hospice organization is looking for a compassionate Spiritual Counselor/Chaplain to provide emotional and spiritual support to hospice patients and their families. The ideal candidate should possess excellent communication skills and a deep understanding of various spiritual practices, including meditation, prayer, and mindfulness.
Responsibilities:
- Offer compassionate spiritual counseling sessions to hospice patients to help them find peace and comfort during this difficult time
- Provide support to families and caregivers of hospice patients
- Provide group counseling sessions and facilitate group meditation and prayer sessions as needed
- Develop and lead workshops and retreats focused on spiritual growth and healing for hospice patients and their families
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including social workers, nurses, and physicians, to provide comprehensive and empathetic patient care
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of patient interactions and progress
- Remain up-to-date with current research, literature, and trends related to spiritual and emotional health in hospice care.
Qualifications:
- Masters of Divinity, Theology, or a related field
- Certification as a Chaplain or Spiritual Counselor with a minimum of 2 years of experience in providing spiritual counseling and guidance to hospice patients and families
- Strong empathy, active listening and communication skills
- Knowledge and understanding of a variety of spiritual practices and traditions
- Ability to work well in a team environment and collaborate with other healthcare professionals
- Attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate and confidential records
