Core Responsibilities
Equipment Management
- Place, monitor, and adjust drying equipment (dehumidifiers, air movers, desiccants, air scrubbers) at job sites
- Record equipment readings and ensure proper placement for optimal drying
Moisture Monitoring
- Use moisture meters, thermal cameras, and hygrometers to measure moisture levels in walls, floors, ceilings, and materials
- Track drying progress over time and document changes
Documentation
- Record daily moisture readings, equipment counts, and site conditions
- Maintain job logs and drying reports (often using software like Dash, Encircle, or Xactimate)
- Photograph job sites to support insurance claims
Client Communication
- Serve as the on-site point of contact for homeowners or business owners
- Explain the drying process and answer basic questions
- Moisture meters and thermal imaging cameras
- Knowledge of psychrometrics (how air temperature and humidity affect drying)
- IICRC standards (especially S500 for water damage)
- Basic understanding of building materials and construction
- Documentation and reporting software
