Position Summary
We are seeking a dependable and hardworking Water Mitigation / Demolition Technician to join our restoration team. This position is responsible for performing demolition and cleanup work related to water damage, mold remediation, fire damage, and property restoration. The technician will safely remove damaged building materials, assist with drying and mitigation processes, and help prepare structures for reconstruction.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform controlled demolition of water-damaged building materials including drywall, flooring, insulation, cabinetry, and other structural components
- Remove and properly dispose of debris and contaminated materials
- Assist with water extraction, drying equipment setup, and moisture monitoring
- Protect unaffected areas of the property using containment, plastic barriers, and floor protection
- Maintain a clean and safe job site throughout the project
- Follow company safety protocols, OSHA and IICRC guidelines
- Load and unload tools, demolition equipment, and materials
- Document work performed with photos and job notes
- Communicate with supervisors, sales technicians, and file managers regarding job progress, safety concerns, or unexpected conditions
- Assist with basic cleaning and preparation for reconstruction crews
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting 50 pounds
- Comfortable using basic hand tools and demolition equipment
- Ability to work in environments affected by water, mold, or construction debris
- Strong work ethic and reliability
- Ability to follow instructions and safety procedures
- Valid driver’s license preferred
- Ability to work flexible hours when emergency jobs arise
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in water damage restoration, demolition, or construction
- Knowledge of drying equipment, moisture meters, and mitigation procedures
- Certifications such as IICRC WRT or ASD (preferred but not required)
- Experience working in restoration environments
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull heavy materials
- Frequent bending, kneeling, climbing, and standing for extended periods
- Ability to work in confined spaces, crawlspaces, or construction environments
Work Environment
- Residential and commercial job sites
- Exposure to construction dust, noise, moisture, fire damaged materials, and demolition conditions
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as respirators, gloves, eye protection, and suits
