American Radiology Associates, a private practice radiology group, is seeking an exceptional and experienced Physician Assistant for service at Baylor Medical Center in Waxahachie.

ARA is the preeminent North Texas radiology practice and is one of only a few private, independent, full-service line radiology groups in the US with a thriving residency program. This is a unique opportunity for an exceptional candidate to join a preeminent radiology practice committed to practicing subspecialized radiology.

The Physician Assistant works in collaboration with the Diagnostic Radiologists to provide comprehensive care for their patients. The PA/NP is responsible for the following tasks: atient evaluation, completing history and physical exams, interpreting test results, performing radiological procedures under imaging guidance (see list below), providing oral and written communication with referring physicians and other clinical staff, developing and implementing patient treatment plans.

POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Writing pre-procedure orders
  • Making recommendations to the referring physician, the patient, and patient’s family under the guidance of the diagnostic radiologist
  • Serving as a liaison between the patient, nursing staff, technologist, referring physician and radiologist
  • Helping to manage fluoroscopy workflow in the department
  • Helping with process and quality improvement
  • Helping with educational activities such as lectures

DESIRED PROFESSIONAL SKILLS AND PROCEDURE EXPERIENCE

  • Modified Barium Swallows
  • Esophograms
  • Upper GI exams
  • Barium Enemas
  • Arthrograms
  • Dobb Hoff Tube placements
  • Genitourinary fluoroscopic exams
  • Lumbar punctures/Myelograms
  • Thoracentesis
  • Paracentesis

DESIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • BLS / ACLS certification required
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Basic knowledge of Fluuroscopy procedures.
  • Strongly prefer a candidate with experience however, willing to train the ideal local candidate.

Candidate must meet Baylor Scott & White Waxahachie Medical Center Education / Training requirements for APRN or PA.

  • Physician Assistant (PA) – Successful completion of an educational program for physician assistants or surgeon assistants accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant, or by that committee’s predecessor or successor entities approved by the Texas Medical Board. Training: Current Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
  • Advance Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) – Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Master of Science (MS) for those with licensure prior to 1995, Registered Nurse and completion of a certificate program. Training: Current national certification as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing with appropriate scope of practice for privileges requested.
  • Candidate must have hospital based PA/RN experience.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $110,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
