About the Role

The Education Manager leads the design, delivery, and evaluation of engaging, visitor-centered programs within an informal education setting for The Dot Experience. This role creates meaningful informal learning experiences that inspire curiosity, foster understanding, and change perspectives about blindness, accessibility, and inclusion.

Education Manager oversees educational programming for school groups, families, adults, community organizations, and professional audiences while ensuring all experiences reflect APH's mission and accessibility standards. This position supervises education staff and volunteers, evaluates program effectiveness, develops partnerships, and serves as a visible ambassador for The Dot Experience.

The ideal candidate is a creative educator, collaborative leader, and experienced facilitator with a passion for inclusive education, accessibility, and lifelong learning.

This position reports to the Director of The Dot Experience and requires flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays based on programming and special events.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and continuously improve multimodal, visitor-centered programming in an informal learning environment, using evaluation and audience feedback to enhance content and delivery.
  • Deliver engaging, accessible, and inclusive learning experiences for diverse audiences, including school groups, families, community organizations, educators, professionals, and adult learners, while modeling the institution's commitment to accessibility and inclusion.
  • Lead, coach, and support a team of educators and program staff to deliver high-quality visitor experiences.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams to develop and enhance programs, events, activities, and overall visitor experiences.
  • Support program operations by assisting with scheduling and staffing needs, including evenings and weekends.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Museum Education, Museum Studies, Communications, or a related field preferred.
  • Five (5) or more years of experience developing and delivering educational programming in museums, science centers, cultural institutions, visitor attractions, or other informal learning environments.
  • Strong understanding of informal learning theory, experiential education, and visitor engagement.
  • Demonstrated abilities with all stages of informal program development, including brainstorming, prototyping, evaluation, iterative refinement, and staff training
  • Excellent communication, presentation, facilitation, and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to present effectively to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends and occasional holidays
  • Travel is required periodically for local events

Note: A combination of education, training, and experience may be considered when competency in the role is demonstrated.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supervising and scheduling a team of educators, volunteers, or program staff
  • Experience working with blindness, low vision, disability organizations, or accessibility initiatives

Compensation & Benefits

$62,000 - $78,000 annually (based on experience and qualifications)
